A lawyer who works for the provincial or federal government and represents the public interest in criminal proceedings. The prosecutor acts in the public interest and not on behalf of the victim. The prosecutor helps witnesses share their evidence in court.
Crown prosecutors may also be called Crown attorneys, Crown counsel, or prosecutors.
